I want to make an impact statement about the importance of repurposing and reusing materials in any possible way.
This is an 11" x 14" mixed media piece titled "Secret Places" . I have repurposed some fabrics, needle felted crab, shells, repurposed African beads, and sea urchins from cardboard forms.

A recent piece created in January and February 2026. The title of this large, multimedia wall hanging is, "Symphony in Sea". Most of the fiber in this large scale hanging is repurposed clothing, fabric scraps, old purses and zippers. Some of the additional features are needle felted from wool. I made the octopus, sea stars, and barnacles out of felted wool. The wooden piece at the top of the piece is of unknown origin. It is hand carved hard wood. It was once hung vertically, but I have repurposed it to be the support beam for the fiber coral reef.
My deep love and concern is for the healthy environmental wellbeing of our oceans. It is my goal this year to reduce my personal footprint using repurposed clothing, shoes, accessories in the fiber art I will be creating. My work will be larger than usual for me as I strive to make a statement about responsibility and stewardship of the oceans of the world. My needle felted art pieces will be created to help educate observers as I create creatures that are little known as they live their lives in the deep portions or the Pacific Ocean.
The United States generates over 11 to 17 million tons of textile waste annually, with EPA data indicating approximately 11.3 million tons (or roughly 85% of all textiles) end up in landfills, while only about 14.7% is recycled. The average American throws away roughly 70 to 82 pounds of clothing and textiles every year.

Nature's Throne
This piece is part of an installation
I named these paintings of women after the forces of nature. The first in the series is reminiscent of my daughter-in-law, "The Sun and Wind in Her Hair". The Second is named after the earth, the beauty and forgiving nature of our earth is represented in this face as she meets your gaze. I named the smiling woman with the rich yellow background after the sun. Finally, I named the portrait of myself after the mystery of water and the kinship we have with the creatures around us. These are small paintings, each is only 8 x 10 inches. They are wood framed and the substrate is clay board.
